Goatskin Shell

Tougher than deerskin and more flexible than cowhide, goatskin is built to endure without compromising comfort or dexterity. Naturally water-resistant, it ages beautifully, gaining patina through use.

Full Shearling Lining

Double-faced shearling, leather with the wool still attached, traps heat while allowing airflow to regulate temperature. Soft against the skin, it wicks moisture better than synthetics, keeping hands dry through long days outside.

Pre-Curved Fit

Ergonomically pre-curved to follow the natural shape of your fingers and thumbs, reducing fatigue while gripping. Firm at first for protection, it softens over time for a comfortable, broken-in fit.

Extra goatskin reinforces the palm, index finger, and thumb, the areas that take the most wear. This reinforcement strengthens the gloves without compromising flexibility or dexterity.

Waterproof Hipora® Membrane

A Hipora® membrane sits between the goatskin shell and shearling lining. Fully waterproof, it keeps rain, snow, and slush out while allowing moisture to escape, ensuring your hands stay dry and comfortable whatever the weather.

Intentional Design

A nylon cuff seals in warmth at the wrist, reinforced with a leather pull tab for lasting durability. An eyelet and carabiner let you clip or hang the gloves after a day on the mountain. Every feature is carefully considered, minimalist, functional, and built to last.

Our Story

Inspired by the rugged life of mountain workers, Rue Gear began with a simple discovery: a pair of time-worn, shearling-lined deerskin gloves that had belonged to my grandfather, faithful companions through harsh Bavarian winters. More than practical tools, they were enduring examples of craftsmanship and character, shaped by years of hard use in the elements.

Searching for a modern equivalent revealed a disappointing reality. Many gloves today are mass-produced from synthetic materials, lacking both the durability and the connection to natural materials that adventurers have relied on for centuries.

Rue Gear was created to close that gap, to craft gloves that feel timeless, age beautifully, and grow better through years of use.
